Vogue Italia - Chow Mein Lane
Chow Mein Lane is about the wholly unique bond that connects siblings, forged by shared genes and upbringing. Our brothers and sisters are protectors, tormentors, counselors, sources of envy, and objects of pride, our fellow passengers through the foundational experiences that bring the world into focus. The force that connects them is profound, but so ingrained that it's easily taken for granted. This story explores the bond between Kain (14) and Lyla (18), two siblings living on Chow Mein Lane. Last Halloween Kain was jumped, and hospitalized by a group of boys from a rival high school. Lyla had a premonition that night and tried several times to reach him hours before. As their father's former bandmate, I've watched and been inspired by both Kain and Lyla as they process the trauma from that night.

In this finite period near the end of adolescence, an act of violence can shatter the last vestiges of our childhood innocence. For Kain and Lyla, the empty space left behind has been filled by a resolve to support, protect, and cherish each other.
